June 2nd, 2010Weddings can be very expensive if you overlook some of the expenses that could cost you a fortune. Here are some strategies for wedding planning to keep it on a budget.
Renting chairs tables and other designs for your wedding can save you money. Instead of getting a very expensive hotel ballroom you can make do with a smaller venue and just design it yourself with stuff that you can rent.
Be strict with the guest list. Invite friends and family of you and your partner. Other acquaintances can be weighed if they really are significant to be part of the ceremony.
Schedule the wedding reception outside the main meal time (lunch and dinner). It is not a rule that you serve a full meal, you can serve a variety of hors d’oeuvres and give your guests the opportunity to move around and mingle. Make sure you indicate this on your invitation so your guests wouldn’t expect a full meal.
Do it yourself. This applies to wedding invitations, souvenirs and other small designs that you yourself can make. Individually it may seem that they are only small amounts but if you sum it all up in the end you would be surprised how much you have saved just by spending some extra time to make stuff on your own.
Skip the 7 piece band. Find a place with good audio equipment. Bring your laptop and create your own play list of music that you want to hear on your wedding day. This makes your wedding more personalized and you can even put a song you made together!
