The most important thing in planning your own wedding is prioritizing. The first way to do this is for you to create a list of the things that you need and how much you are willing to spend on them.
Would you choose to spend a fortune on a big ballroom type reception or would you prefer to have more food options for your guests. A 7 piece band would be nice but you could do with a good audio setup and a laptop with your own selection of play lists for your songs. You can save money for your souvenirs if you buy a wedding gown when it is on sale.
Remember that your wedding is not about pleasing your guests. It is a celebration of your bond as a couple and your guests are there as witness to your love.
