Cubic Zirconia As Engagement Rings – What Men Should Know

Sometimes, though, young couples can’t afford the large price tag of a diamond ring wedding set, and they begin to look at alternatives. One such alternative is the cubic zirconia engagement ring.
Before buying a woman a cubic zirconia ring however, a man should always discuss it with his fiancée. It’s never a good idea to try to pass a cubic zirconia ring off as a diamond ring… the appearance is quite similar and most likely would never be questioned; but if for some reason she found out later that it wasn’t a real diamond it certainly could add stress to the relationship.
Men shouldn’t be afraid to broach the subject of cubic zirconia with the women in their lives. Many women love the look of diamonds and would enjoy something as beautiful (or sometimes more beautiful) as a diamond while trying to save money. Some women take a cubic zirconia ring as a temporary ring to save money, with a promise of a real diamond later on down the road; and some love the cubic zirconia in its own right with no need for a real diamond.
If money is tight, and a woman isn’t flexible about the type of ring she gets, it’s probably wise to have a conversation about debt and money. As long as both people are on the same page, conflict can be avoided. Whenever possible, however, debt should be avoided, especially at the beginning of a marriage.
Something couples should consider when they look at cubic zirconia rings is size. If they don’t mind telling others that it isn’t a real diamond, size certainly is not an issue. However, if they wish to pass it off as a real diamond, they should shop for a cubic zirconia that is small enough to pass for a diamond that would have been in their price range.
All in all, cubic zirconia rings are a fantastic way to start a marriage off without debt and with a beautiful ring. The most important thing to remember though is that marriage should always start with honesty… a couple should never, ever be dishonest with each other, even about something as seemingly trivial as the type of stone in a ring. Find a place of honest agreement about the jewelry before you buy it.
