Fun Hen Party Games

July 13th, 2010

Planning for a bachelorette get together, or a Hen party if you are actually from the UK is just about the easiest parts of a wedding to plan. You will find literally hundreds of ideas for activities and a bunch of options for games. Many of those ideas are a bit on the saucy side, but there are lots that that are simply clean fun.

For instance, one well-known bachelorette game involves asking your guests to become poets. Ahead of the party, take 50 index cards and on half, write romantic things, like “roses”, “cuddly”, etc. On the other 25 cards, write very non-romantic terms or phrases, like “nose hairs” or “ironing”. Next have each invitee draw one card from each and every pile. They should then come up with a silly poem based on the two very different words or phrases they have chosen, for instance, “Roses are red, your nose hairs are ewwwww.”

One entertaining game that will certainly engender at least a few laughs is “identify that object”. Take a paper bag (a fabric bag is much better should you have one) and fill the bag with common ‘male items”. The items might include a razor, a money clip, a tie, shoe polish, etc. Seal the bag, or fold it over really well. Then have each and every guest feel the bag and then try to guess the contents. Have them write their guesses on a sheet of paper. As soon as everyone has had an opportunity to feel the bag, the contents are revealed and the person with the most number of accurate guesses will get the bag of male-oriented objects.

Bachelorette/Hen party activities are not only meant to bring fun to the celebration, but often to help individuals get acquainted with one another. This can be a good chance for the bride’s closest friend to get to know the sister of the bridegroom, or for the bride-to-be to get close to the groom’s cousin or relative. Therefore an icebreaker game isn’t a bad strategy.

This is not perhaps the most intellectual of an icebreaker game, but it will likely break the ice early on in the evening before you head out to other events. Have fun with a game known as “I have never…” and find out exactly who takes the most drinks. And so the first woman says, “I have never…” and completes the sentence. The women that have succesfully done the one thing the first woman says she’s never done have a drink. Then the next lady claims to have “never” done something.

Some suggestions for this game are: “I have never …” *Lied about my age *Lied about my weight *Shoplifted *Got a speeding ticket *Ran naked through my house
