My date in Western Iowa
February 27th, 2008I was looking for a good place to take a weekend date, somewhere close to home, someplace in the western Iowa tourism region. I looked at several options many of them having to do with activities along the Missouri river. I’m an avid fisherman but, unfortunately, she isn’t so those ideas all went in the can. Then I looked at exploring the Loss Hills and seeing the sights around there. I thought the scenery would be the perfect backdrop for some romantic conversation, maybe even just pack a picnic with a bottle of wine and a nice blanket and go out and find a secluded place to enjoy each others company. Then I found out there were no real public areas in the area that were that secluded, in fact most of the hills are privately owned and visitors are not allowed. What I finally settled on was a nice motel along the river with no associated fishing to take place. We spent our days exploring the banks of the Missouri and our nights eating at a fancy restaurant then retiring to our room which had a wonderful view of the moonrise. I don’t think either of us was disappointed.
