Bully or Shrinking Violet?
October 31st, 2006Do some people actually like dominating others and controlling them? Do others actually like being bossed and ordered around? Look around and you’ll find plenty of people in both categories. It’s true that the world needs leaders and followers. But the bullies of this world don’t lead – they control. A leader inspires people to follow him and the path he sets before them. A bully bulldozes people into the path he wants them to follow. A leader is always open to suggestions and constructive criticism because he wants the total plan to be a success. A bully expects obedience without question and is more interested in whether you’re doing things his way or not, no arguments. Finally, a leader cares about his followers while a bully is self-centered.
Then there is the one who is dominated or bullied. This is something that someone without self confidence can bring on himself or herself. Such people are not confident enough to think for themselves and look up to bullies to make decisions for them. They feel they are not worth it and seeing how sure of himself the bully is, let him take over and organize their lives.
