How to Dress for a Homecoming Date

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I love to dance, but I normally hate school dances. I mean, other than seeing all of my friends and getting a night out with my boyfriend, they’re not that fun. Usually, I’m in a long, formal dress that looks amazing but restricts movement. Then, my boyfriend asks me to dance and we end up swaying with the music because all I can do is sway in such a long, form-fitting dress! It’s lame. This year is going to be different, though. The trend for 2008 homecoming dresses is to go short. In fact, I recently read this article by a fashion consultant called, “Why You Should Get a Short Homecoming Dress.” And you know what? She talks all about the inability to dance in a formal dress and how that is fixed with a shorter dress! It was like she was reading my mind. I’m so excited for this year!

What’s so Great about Homecoming?

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

What’s so great about Homecoming? Everything! Homecoming is typically in September and is the first formal event in the new school year. Anticipation for the event is high, and almost everyone in the whole school comes.

Homecoming is a fabulous time for girls to show off their styles in the latest fashions, dressing up in glorious gowns that are the envy of those unable to attend. Last year’s prom gowns just won’t cut it for this event. The guys are less enthused about dressing up, but are eager to show off their style and masculinity by coming with one of the prettiest girls in school.

New Parents

Friday, July 25th, 2008

You’ve waited what almost seems like your whole life for the Big Event to happen, but in actuality it’s only been a very long nine months. Now you’re faced with the end product of these nine months and it’s staring you right in the face and screaming its little lungs out. The only thing you can say is that at least your newborn baby’s lungs are in proper working condition. This is about the time however that new parents will start panicking and want to run screaming from the room.

Sure you’ve been reading up on every single book and article you could get your hands on about parenting and babies, just like all new parents do. But in truth, none of them ever prepared you for the reality of facing your own newborn infant and the magnitude of the responsibility you’ll be faced with for the rest of your life.

Screaming babies, soggy diapers and temper tantrums aside, you’ll not only have to look after this helpless bundle of fragility for at least the next fifteen to twenty years, but you’ll also have sole responsibility for turning out a solid, and upstanding citizen who will be a credit not only to society but also to you as well. And don’t worry if the fifteen-to-twenty sounded like a jail sentence to you, most new parents tend to think along just those same terms.

The History Of Homeschooling

Monday, July 9th, 2007

It is not easy to say exactly when homeschooling began but many people quote the example of Alexander the Great being taught ‘at home’ by Aristotle as its birth. However, homeschooling as we understand it today really began in the second half of the twentieth century.

Modern homeschooling is the result of the ideas of a number people who started to question the public school system in the 1960s and in our newest article we examine the role played by three of these people.

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

You can choose from a number of potential remedies. The most prominent skin care system that claims to stop acne in its tracks is Proactiv Solution. Does it work?

Healthy Skin Woman Image

Maybe.

Anyway, Proactive Solution comes in a simple three-step system. You wash, then tone, and lastly apply a moisturizer. It’s a routine you can tote anywhere you go with ease. On the other hand, this system will not stop acne for everyone. Luckily there are plenty of other approaches to choose from.

Birth Control Options - Teen Pregnancy Prevention

Monday, April 16th, 2007

There are other birth control options you can consider like the IUD or even the female condom. If you can’t make up your mind, look them up online to see what you think and then talk to someone. You may find that you can’t take a pill every day, but you may be able to tolerate getting a shot in the arm every three months to protect you from pregnancy. There is also an implant you can use as one of your birth control options that will protect you for up to five years. No matter what you choose, the important thing is that you do choose, and that you use your protection properly and at all times. Don’t be pressured into sex that you don’t want to have, and don’t allow anyone to talk you out of using protection. If they don’t want you to protect yourself, you can be sure they don’t care for you at all.

Teen Dating

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Though I consider myself a perfectly sane person, I did a lot of stupid things when I first started out with teen dating. I snuck out more than once, and I did end up having sex long before I should have. My mom made rules for me about teen dating, but I only followed them when she was looking. I was able to get away with more than she had when she was a teen because she had to work and couldn’t keep an eye on me like she wished she could. That’s not bad parenting in my book, that’s just the way it has to be for some families.
