Marriage Counseling – A Good Thing?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

What with all the problems facing us regarding relationships in this country today, it is refreshing to see that marriage counseling is becoming more accepted as an option to saving a marriage. It wasn’t all that long ago that marriage and family counseling was frowned upon. Going to a marriage counselor meant that you just could not handle problems yourself. For the woman, it meant that you were neurotic. If you were the man, it meant you weren’t sufficiently authoritative. Thankfully, marriage counselors are becoming more widely accepted in the mainstream today. After all, if it can help save a marriage, why not give it a try?

A lot of people think that marriage counseling is only for people who are at the end of their rope. I felt this way as well. You see, I love my wife and never thought about getting a divorce. Thing is, I just wasn’t exactly happy with the way our marriage was going either. We had the same old fights over and over again, and it seemed like we weren’t as happy as we used to be. Some people told me that this was normal, but I refused to believe it. I began to think that marriage counseling might help and, despite the snickers of my friends, I determined to give it a try. Dealing With A Breakup Isn’t Easy

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Treat it as a Learning Experience and Then Move On

No matter what your age or gender, dealing with a breakup isn’t easy, in fact, it can be downright painful. Teens who break up with their boyfriend or girlfriend can feel terribly hurt, even if the relationship was a relatively short one. Adults, on the other hand, are usually better equipped to deal with a breakup because they have the advantage of experience. Either way, dealing with a breakup can seem like the end of the world.

If you’re the one who initiated the breakup, you may feel an enormous sense of guilt for having hurt the other person. On the other hand, if you’re the one being ‘dumped’, you may have intense feelings of inadequacy, anger or, in some cases, a desire for revenge. These emotions span all age groups.

When you’ve got to do a best mans speech the key thing is preparation and knowing the etiquette of proceedings. Look at some best man speech examples and focus on making notes, creating an outline and timing your speech so it isn’t a long drawn out affair. Add a dash of humor but make sure you don’t cross the line and try to leave the bride out of the equation unless you know her very well. Your best friend and groom will forgive you for a corny joke. Also don’t drink too much before you deliver the speech. A small amount may give you dutch courage, but too much could mean you end up forgetting your lines and you definitely don’t want that.
